Step One: Science
Energy and Forces
-Senior Infants & First Class: Floating and Sinking

Mr Walshe's class designed their own boats using play dough. Look at the fabulous coloured boats! They estimated how many counters each boat would hold and then checked if their boat would float and how many counters it held. They compiled a graph on the whiteboard to show their results.

-Junior Infants: Floating and Sinking

Mrs Sweeney's Junior Infants had great fun with some hands on learning about floating and sinking. They used lots of different toys and objects to find out if they floated or sank.

-Junior Infants: Magnets

Junior Infants has so much fun with the Discover Primary Science and Maths award. They loved exploring with magnets.

-First & Second Class: Magnets

Ms Reilly's First and Second class had races using magnets and used the magnets through paper to complete a maze.

-Junior Infants: Dancing Raisins

Junior Infants loved watching the raisins dancing up and down in the jars as they collected the bubbles of carbon dioxide from the 7up. We didn't predict that the raisins could dance!!

-Third & Fourth Class (Ms Duffy): Gravity

-Third & Fourth Class (Ms Duffy): Electricity

We learned about electrical safety and the dangers of electricity. Then we were set some tasks.
1. We were given a battery, tinfoil and a bulb and we had to light the bulb.
2. We had a battery, a bulb, a bulb holder and two wires and had to light the bulb again.
3. We had a motor, two wires and a battery and tried to make the motor move.
We then placed a piece of card on the motor to make a fan.
4. We also made a circuit using a buzzer, a battery and two wires.
