Senior Infants 2020 - 2021

First Day of School August 27th

What a fantastic Senior Infants! I was so proud of them and how calm and happy they were on their first day.
We were getting used to some new things like washing our hands before and after eating and staying within our classroom pods.  There are five pods which we call different coloured tables - red, blue, green, purple and pink
They also got used to lining up in the mornings to come in and go home in the evenings as well as getting used to where their designated play area on the yard is.
Everyone really loved playing with their own two tubs of playdough! They were so delighted to see their friends again.
WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Fine Motor Development Stations

Practising our fine motor and handwriting skills in fun ways!
  1. Making letters of the alphabet from playdough.
  2. Playing 'Sushi Scramble' and 'Operation' to develop pincer grip.
  3. Cutting and pasting doctor's instruments onto the doctor's bag - aistear play is 'The Doctor's Surgery'.
  4. Creating peg patterns - pincer grip and hand-eye coordination.
  5. Handwriting patterns and colouring.

Art -  September

We've been busy exploring the theme of Autumn and on Friday 11th we went for a nature walk around the school to spot the signs of Autumn.  We saw 'Sammy Sycamore' and the helicopters on it and we also spotted the bird box on the tree too!  We saw different leaves on the ground and the colours of Autumn.  We went around the back of the school to look at the school garden and some evergreen trees there.

We painted pictures about our first week back in school in quite a while!

We drew a 'selfie' and found out what that meant!  We also gave each person a compliment about something we like about that person.
