Maths 2D Shape fun with tangrams
The pupils of 2nd class have had great fun learning about 2D shapes!
This week we used the tangrams to create a larger version of a 2D shape such as a triangle, square.
The children had to manipulate and rearrange the shapes in order to create a picture/shape.
We had so much fun with this hands on learning maths topic 🙂

World Book Day
We had a brilliant day today in Second Class celebrating World Book Day!
We had lots of famous characters in the classroom and also got the chance to listen to the children reading a chapter or two of their favourite book.
The aim today was to promote the enjoyment of books and reading with the children. We had lots of fun.

Second class entered the 'Someone Like Me' Art Competition this year. In preparation for the competition, the children learned about 'Inclusion' and particularly the disabilities we can and cannot see. The children learned so much and really understood that everyone is special in their own way. The pupils were excellent when working on their ideas in coming up with how we can be more inclusive of everyone in school. The children created their own 3-D hot air balloons to align with our inclusive quote that was brainstormed by the class.

Procedural Writing: How to make Rice Krispie buns
We have been very busy in the classroom the past few weeks focusing on our writing. We really enjoyed learning about the Procedural Writing Genre.
Ahead of our fun day baking in the classroom, the children each write their own recipe for 'How to make Rice Krispie buns' which included a list of ingredients and equipment, as well as the steps involved in the method.
The boys and girls really enjoyed using their own recipes and putting their writing to good use. As you can see from the photos, we had great fun decorating!

Bubbles inside bubbles!
Did you know that you can blow bubbles inside bubbles using a straw?
We investigated if it was possible to blow bubbles inside another bubble without bursting it with the straw. We used homemade bubble mixture in the classroom.
We learned that the surface that the bubble lands on must be wet in order for it to stick. To blow a bubble inside another bubble using the straw, it must also be wet with bubble mixture, otherwise the end of the straw will burst the bubble!
Have a look at how our bubbles turned out in the photos below.
