HALLOWEEN
We loved getting to wear our Halloween costume to school. When we wore our masks, Ms. Judge didn't know who was who!! We even frightened her a few times. We got some cool monster treats to take home with us!!
Our Christmas Play
The Sleepy Shepherd
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
We wore our Christmas jumpers for our last day in school before the Christmas holidays. Happy Christmas everyone!!
MAKING JELLY
We learned all about liquids and solids through making jelly. The jelly we used began as a solid. Ms. Judge poured hot water over the jelly and we each took turns stirring the jelly until it dissolved. We had to be very careful because the water was very hot! When the jelly turned into a liquid it was time for Ms.Judge to pour the jelly into plastic cups. Then they had to be placed in the fridge to set. We left the jelly in the fridge over night and when we took it out the next day we saw that it changed back to a solid. We really enjoyed eating the jelly!! It was YUMMY!!
THE LIFECYCLE OF A BUTTERFLY
First and Second class carried out an experiment on butterflies using REAL CATERPILLARS!! We were super lucky to have been invited over to see the caterpillars when they got them. They were so tiny. First and Second class told us A LOT about caterpillars and what happens in their lives before changing into beautiful butterflies. When we left their classroom we were so interested about the lifecycle of the butterfly so we decided to do our own research too. We made these super cool lifecycle of the butterfly art pieces and displayed them outside our classroom. Ms. Duffy and her class were very impressed!! They invited us back to see the cocoons (chrysalises) and also to help them release the butterflies when they emerged from the cocoons. How lucky were we???
Check out Ms. Duffy's 'First and Second Class' page to see more about the butterflies. It was such a cool and fun experiment and we loved being part of it!!
SCHOOL TOUR 2019
We had a BLAST in Tumble Jungle!!
We made bread!!
We read the story "The Little Red Hen" and we didn't understand why the cat the rat and the dog didn't want to help the Little Red Hen make the bread. We decided that if the Little Red Hen had asked us we definitely would have said YES because that was the nice thing to do. It's good to help others. We all worked together to make 3 loaves of bread. We followed the recipe and each had our own job! It tasted DELICIOUS!!
SPORTS DAY
We had so much fun at Sports Day! There were five stations: sack race, games station where we played "Duck, Duck, Goose", parachute, water and sponge race and penalty shoot out. Even Ms. Judge and Catherine took part in the sack race but they were no match for the speedy Junior Infants!!
