Paper Chain Challenge

Team building exercise

The class was split into groups and each group got the same amount of paper. The challenge was to see which group could create the longest paper chain!

Build a Tower Challenge

Team building exercise

Working in small groups we had to build a tower without using our hands! The children had great fun with this and we even had a few races to finish off!

Happy Halloween

We played some Halloween games and made some chocolate covered apples which were delicious!

2D Shapes

This week we swapped out the whiteboards for our tables! We created different parallelograms using lollipop sticks and identified the angles in each shape by writing them in on the table!

SCIENCE WEEK

Bubbles

We kicked off Science week this year with a Bubble experiment. For this, we mixed 3 spoons of washing up liquid and one spoon of sugar in a cup of water! We needed to wet the table to make our bubbles as we discovered that they would burst if the table wasn't wet! Once we created a large bubble on the table, we continued blowing bubbles inside the bubbles.

Volcano

Stage one:

The class were split into 5 groups. Each group had to brainstorm ways to create a volcano shape using their allocated materials. One group was using newspaper, another using forks, another using bubble wrap, another using skewers and another using lollipop sticks. Once they had their volcano ready, it was time for paper maché!

Stage two:

This stage involved painting the volcanoes. First we painted them white to create a base. Then each group decided on what colours they wanted to paint their volcanoes!

Stage three:

Stage three was the eruption stage. We made a funnel using paper to pour in some baking soda. We then poured vinegar into the volcano and waited for the eruption to happen!
