This week we were studying the procedural genre in English. The recipes were for brownies and oaty cookies. We followed the recipe and made the cookies! We then had afternoon tea 'as Gaeilge' in our Gaeilge only zone in the halla, where we had a chat with a few different people and enjoyed our treats during a break.

Gravity: We learned about Isaac Newton and completed experiments on gravity based on shape, size and weight of objects.

Coding-The Hour of Code
We watched a video about coding, computer science, programming, what coding is, what it is used for and why it is important. We heard Bill Gates-the creator of Microsoft, Mark Zuckerburg-the creator of Facebook, the designer of Minecraft and many others discuss their first experiences with coding. Then we began our first coding lesson where we coded a Minecraft game!

Throughout the. month of January we have been learning about Italy. We made pizza, weighing out our ingredients carefully and using data and fractions to divide the toppings across our bases. We enjoyed the end result!

Do we think we enjoyed it?!
We learned about electrical safety and the dangers of electricity. Then we were set some tasks.
1. We were given a battery, tinfoil and a bulb and we had to light the bulb.
2. We had a battery, a bulb, a bulb holder and two wires and had to light the bulb again.
3. We had a motor, two wires and a battery and tried to make the motor move.
We then placed a piece of card on the motor to make a fan.
4. We also made a circuit using a buzzer, a battery and two wires.
