Christmas around the World!
The children worked in groups to create a project about Christmas in a country. The children worked very well alongside each other and each had their own part to play within the project. Time was spent assembling the project as well as presenting the projects. |

Science Week 2016 (14th-18th Nov)
In the lead up to Science Week we had been working very hard learning about our internal organs. With the lungs being one of the most important organs in our bodies, we carried out a Science experiment to show how the lungs work.
The children worked in pairs and each pair got half a bottle with a balloon covering the bottom, a straw, a piece of playdough, a balloon and a rubber band.
The straw acted as the trachea. The balloon inside the bottle acted as a lung and the balloon on the bottom of the bottle acted as the diaphragm.

Resisting the Force of GravityLearning about forces with a focus on gravity. We tested out different objects of different size and weight to see which would land first.
The children developed parachutes using foam cups, tissue paper and string. We tested them out to see which parachute resisted the force of gravity for the longest. |
TessellationWhen learning about 2D shapes in Maths, we learned about tessellation. Shapes can only tessellate is they fit together without leaving any gaps.
We tested squares, rectangles, circles, triangles and semi-circles. |
The VikingsWe learned all about the Vikings; who they were, what they wore, where they came from and why they came to Ireland. We created a timeline of the Vikings from 795AD- 1014
In Art, the children drew Long Ships and they also constructed Viking swords, axes and helmets. |
